Once known as the “Gem of the Great Lakes” thanks to its natural harbor, Erie has more recently been referred to as “Flagship City” for being the port of the USS Niagara, a wooden-hulled ship used in the War of 1812 to defeat the British. The E will get you to work, school, the mall, or the heart of downtown Erie. Riders can also use the Bayliner Trolley for downtown travel and the LIFT for those needing mobility assistance.

City Murals What’s a better selfie backdrop than a street mural? Erie has plenty of artwork that is free and open to the public. Most of the murals are outside, so you’ll want to check them out during the day. Put on your walking shoes and go sightseeing! There are also plenty of traditional museums featuring collections and artifacts.

Sports October through April, the Erie Otters take the ice against 19 other teams making up the Ontario Hockey League. The Erie SeaWolves’ bats start cracking in April. Catch the boys of summer when they hit the field for AA Minor League Baseball.

Road Trip Explorers are just a 1 1/2 hour drive from Buffalo and Cleveland. Catch an NBA game with the Cavaliers or visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland or sightsee at Niagara Falls in Buffalo.
