Explorers are feeling “California Love” in Santa Clarita, a scenic town in the heart of Southern California. There are over 14 colleges and universities in the Santa Clarita area, including private and public institutions offering 2-year and 4-year degrees. Explorers wishing to further their education or a family member looking to take classes will find several universities and colleges in the Santa Clarita area and nearby to choose from, including the University of Southern California, the University of California Los Angeles, Loyola Marymount, and Los Angeles City College.

 

Transportation

Southern California is famous for its commutes. In fact, the 405 and 110, Hollywood Boulevard, and the Pacific Coast Highway have inspired countless references in music, TV, and movies. However, Explorers looking for someone else to take the wheel can hop on the Santa Clarita Transit. SCT provides service throughout the city and to neighboring localities such as Pasadena and Los Angeles.

Los Angeles International Airport is an hour’s drive from Santa Clarita and has non-stop flights to destinations across the country, such as New York, Chicago, and Miami, and around the world, such as the Philippines, Brazil, Europe, and more.

Griffith Park/Observatory Visit the largest urban-wilderness municipal park in the US and get a shot of the iconic Hollywood sign. The Observatory is Southern California’s gateway to the great beyond. Tour the exhibits or sit in on a show and learn more about this wonderous universe.

Santa Clarita Trails Explore 80 miles of picturesque trails and 20 miles of paseos for commuting, walking, riding, jogging, and skating. Residents can use the trails to access parks, entertainment, shopping, educational institutions, and entertainment centers.

Castaic Lake Enjoy boating, canoeing, horseback riding, wakeboarding, camping and more at the largest state water project reservoir in Southern California.

Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Star Trek, Westworld, and Austin Powers are just a few of the numerous TV shows and movies filmed at Vasquez Rocks Natural Area. Explorers may not be in a feature film, but they can enjoy camping, hiking and horseback riding trails, and other outdoor activities.

Six Flags Magic Mountain The “Thrill Capital of the World,” is right in the backyard of Explorers working in Santa Clarita. Home to the world’s first 4D roller coaster, Six Flags provides thrill seekers the adrenaline pump of a lifetime.

Old Town Newhall Santa Clarita’s arts and entertainment district is nestled in the city’s oldest neighborhood. Shop for one-of-a-kind gifts, check out a show at the Canyon Theatre Guild, or have dinner with fellow Explorers.

Santa Monica Pier Get your MyStory picture-perfect selfie at the Santa Monica Pier. Step out for amazing views of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Monica. Ride the Pacific Park’s Ferris Wheel or grab a treat. There’s plenty to do at this historic SoCal favorite.
