MedPro International recently hosted Dr. Amy Mendoza, Chief Nursing Officer at Perpetual Help Medical Center in the Philippines. Dr. Mendoza toured MedProU® and the Clinical Skills and Simulation Center at FAU and visited local South Florida hospitals Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and Jackson North Medical Center as part of a larger initiative to strengthen the PHMC nursing program and prepare Filipino nurses for work in the U.S. healthcare system. By collaborating, Dr. Mendoza and MedPro aim to equip nurses with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in both the Philippines and the US. “My relationship with MedPro International has always been complimentary,” said Dr. Mendoza. “My visit will help enhance our nursing programs back home and provide a level of comfort and support to Filipino nurses working in the US.”

Preparing for Success

Foreign-educated healthcare professionals often face challenges such as adapting to cultural differences, advanced medical technology, language barriers, and the emotional strain of being away from loved ones. MedPro provides a welcoming and instructional environment to help Filipino nurses navigate these hurdles. In turn, Dr. Mendoza can acquire valuable information and insight on technological developments and acquire additional resources, including MedPro International’s new lecture series, which will be available to PHMC nursing students.

Empowering Nurses

Dr. Mendoza’s visit followed her attendance at the AONL conference, sponsored by ANSAP, a Filipino nurse leader organization where she serves on the board. While touring, Dr. Mendoza was impressed by MedProU® ‘s comprehensive curriculum. Visits to local hospitals further showcased the advanced medical equipment she hopes to bring to Filipino nurses soon, including bedside cribs with 360° highly visible mesh walls, central monitoring systems in critical care, automated medication dispensing systems, and more. Dr. Mendoza’s visit was a huge success for PHMC, MedPro International, and Filipino nurses. “Seeing MedPro International’s welcoming culture, efficient hiring process, and strong support systems firsthand was invaluable,” said Dr. Mendoza. “Sharing these insights, along with success stories and access to advanced technology, will ease the anxieties of future Filipino nurses and empower them to embrace new opportunities in U.S. hospitals.”
